Giving recognition

Recognition is the heartbeat of Harmonic. Anyone can recognise anyone — it’s not a manager-only feature.

Give a shout-out

Pick a teammate, say what they did, and post it. Two things make Harmonic’s version different from a generic kudos tool:

  • It can be tagged with a value — so recognition builds a picture of what the team actually rewards.
  • It’s shaped by the recipient’s recognition language. Some people love a public celebration; some cringe at one and treasure a quiet, specific thank-you. Their playbook says which, and Harmonic helps your words land the way they’re best received.

Reactions and comments

Anyone on the team can react to a shout-out or add a comment. Small as it sounds, this is what makes a remote team’s appreciation visible — the difference between a thank-you in a DM and one the whole team gets to pile onto.

Where recognition goes

Every shout-out you receive accrues into your growth record — a page of peer-written evidence of your impact that belongs to you.

If your admin has connected Slack, shout-outs also post to your team’s channel. See Slack.

What makes a good one

Specific beats general: “the way you untangled the migration on Tuesday” beats “being awesome.” Timely beats delayed. And recognising effort in someone’s own style — even when it isn’t yours — is the whole game.
